My top 5 spots to take photos in Italy
Italian Photography Guide
I’ve been to Italy few times now, so I’ve created this top 5 photo spots guide. Perhaps you’re visiting italy for the first time, and need some great location to photograph. Look no further, here is a list.
Top 5 Photo Spots in Italy
1. Tre Cime di Lavaredo
I’m sure you have seen photos from this location before, and it is a spot there is worth visiting.
Photo Tip for Tre Cime di Lavaredo
You would think that a wide angle lens would be best at this spot – and thats also correct. But, a tele zoom is also a must. You can get some great mountain peaks photos, but also beautiful landscape photos with reflection in some of the small lakes. If you’re going to walk around the 3 spikes, I would recommend to pack as light as possible. Specially if it’s on a hot day. Bring more water than camera.
Best time to visit Tre Cime di Lavaredo
Get there early! I will say that again, get there early. If you arrive later than 9am, you might not be allowed to drive. It’s simply because of lack of parkering (I believe). There is a lot of parking, but not as much compared to how many people there want to visit this place. So get there early, or get there later in the evening. It cost 30 EUR to acces, parking is free.
How to get to Tre Cime di Lavaredo
Get there by car is definitely the most easiset. The road isn’t that windy, so you wont overheat your car.

2. Seiser Alm
This location is also a very populair photo spot.
Photo Tip for Seiser Alm
A good midrange lens would do just fine here. I used my 24-70mm 2.8 lens from Nikon, and that did just fine here.
Best time to visit Seiser Alm
It’s free to get here, and fairly easy to drive there. As many other places, it’s best in the morning or evening, if you want the best light. This location is beautiful anyday in the year. Always a pleasent scenery.

You can’t miss Venice, if you’re in Italy, and you’re in the area. If you have been to Venice before I can understand you wont visit again, because of all the tourist. But, there are some places in Venice that aren’t so bad.
Photo Tip for Venice
Travel light to Venice. A midrange lens would do just fine. Or perhaps a 50 or 85mm would be great too.
Best time to visit Venice
It’s tempting to visit over the summer, just be prepared that there will be many people there. I went there once in Ocotober, and it’s was fine.

4. Val d'Orcia
If you want Tuscany landscape vibes, then this is the place to go. In this area there isn’t many grape fields, so if it’s that you are looking for, I would recommend to drive further north.
Photo Tip for Val d’Orcia
There is great chances for fog in the morning in this area, so be ready for that. I mainly used my 24-70mm and 70-200 when I was there.

I’ve been here in August and October, and to be honest, they looked very much a like. I do think spring would be great here too, but summer and autumn is also very beautiful.

Just like the other places, the car is the best. There isn’t really any busses going out here, so a car is a must have.
