Sometimes the best adventures are the ones that don’t require much planning.
Over the past months, I’ve taken the easy camp Rago 3 on several small camping trips, bringing along some food, my camera and whatever else I need for a night outdoors.
No big expeditions – just simple escapes into nature, where I can explore the surroundings, cook a good meal and enjoy some time away from everyday life.
For me, these little trips have become a great way to slow down, spend more time outside and, of course, bring my camera along for the adventure.

A Simple Escape
Sometimes you don’t need to travel far to feel like you’ve been somewhere completely different.
That’s one of the things I’ve really enjoyed about taking the Rago 3 with me. A small amount of planning is often enough to turn an ordinary evening into a little adventure. I pack some camping gear, my camera and enough food for the night, find a nice spot and set up camp.
The easy camp Rago 3 is a three-person dome tent, so there is plenty of space when I’m using it on my own. Setting it up is straightforward, and before long I have a small camp surrounded by trees and grass.
There is something satisfying about creating a little home for yourself outdoors. Suddenly, the forest around you becomes your living room, the grass becomes your floor and the sounds of nature replace everything you normally hear at home.
And once everything is set up, I can finally slow down.
Food and a Little Photography
One of the nicest things about a small camping trip like this is how ordinary things suddenly feel different.
Making coffee or tea becomes an experience.
Cooking dinner becomes something to look forward to.
I usually keep the food simple and make an easy meal using a burner. Nothing fancy, but sitting outside with a warm meal, surrounded by nature, somehow makes it taste even better. There is something about cooking outdoors that I really enjoy. You have fewer things to worry about, everything is simple, and you can just sit down and enjoy the food when it’s ready.
And, of course, I always bring my camera.
Photography is an important part of these little adventures, but I rarely go out with a strict plan to create a particular image. Instead, I like to explore the area around the camp and see what catches my attention.
That is one of the things I love about photography. It makes you look at familiar things differently. A forest can seem completely ordinary until you start looking for interesting light, shapes, layers and small details.
Because there is nowhere I need to be, I can take my time.
A Practical Tent
After spending some time exploring the area, I usually head back to camp as the light starts to soften. I make some food, sit down outside the tent and simply enjoy the evening.
There isn’t much else to do – and that is exactly what makes it so nice.
I have everything I need right there. A warm meal, something to drink, my camera and a comfortable place to sleep. Without the usual distractions, I find myself paying much more attention to what is happening around me. The light changing through the trees, the sounds of the forest and the feeling of being away from everyday life.
The Rago 3 has worked really well as my base on these trips. At 2.9 kg and with a packed size of 42 × 15 cm, it is still relatively easy to bring along, while the extra space of a three-person tent is actually quite nice when I’m carrying camera gear and camping equipment.
The two entrances are also practical, and there is plenty of room to make the tent comfortable for a night outdoors.
The mornings are often just as enjoyable. I can get up, make some coffee and head outside with my camera before packing everything away. The landscape can look completely different in the morning light, which gives me another reason to explore a little more before heading home.
And that’s probably what I enjoy most about these trips. They don’t have to be big. They don’t have to involve long hikes or spectacular destinations.
Sometimes it’s simply about getting away for a night, cooking a meal outside, sleeping in a tent and spending some uninterrupted time surrounded by nature.

I’ve really come to enjoy how easy it is to turn a normal day into a little adventure. I don’t need a big expedition or a long journey – just a tent, some food, my camera and a bit of time in nature.
The easy camp Rago 3 has worked really well as a comfortable base for these trips, while the freedom to walk around and photograph whatever catches my attention makes the experience even better.
I’ve come home with some photographs I really like, but more importantly, these little adventures have given me a chance to properly switch off for a while. And that’s probably the best reason to get outside in the first place.
